FAQ | Frequently Asked Questions
Is there an age restriction?
The minimum age is 18 years. Minors aged 16 and above may use bikes and e-bikes only with the consent of their legal guardians. E-scooters are allowed from 18. In Basel, the minimum age is 14 if a valid M-category moped license is present and parental permission is given. The license must be submitted before purchasing a subscription. It is the customer's responsibility to comply with the minimum age and provide valid documents. False information may result in account suspension.

Multiple apps
Currently, there are three apps in Switzerland. Gradually, we are switching to a single app. You can find an overview of the apps by region under Download App.
Login across multiple apps
The login for the PubliBike app and the two PubliBike Velospot apps is different. Therefore, you must register separately for each app. However, the login for the PubliBike Velospot apps is the same.
SwissPass
Your SwissPass can be used as an access medium. If you link it in the app, your subscription will be connected to the SwissPass. If you do not actively link it, you can use bikes and e-bikes in the PubliBike Velospot network with B-Quick. The SwissPass is not migrated.
5 CHF fee
When registering as a new user, a verification fee of 5 CHF applies. This will then be credited to your ride balance. If you enter a promo code during registration, you can skip the fee, for example for day passes.
Ride not ended
Make sure the lock is properly closed – many forget this. Activate the lock and hold the latch until you hear a beep. Check the return confirmation in the app. If there are issues, contact customer service.
Not rentable
If a bike or e-bike is not available for rent, it is usually due to a low battery. The vehicle will soon be available with a full battery. The app only shows bikes and e-bikes with sufficient battery.
Pause / Stopover
You can take a stopover at any time – your per-minute rate continues. Instructions for this can be found here.
Empty station
We try to supply all stations with bikes and e-bikes, but at busy stations, none may be available.
Ongoing ride in the app
Usually, the lock was not closed properly or was forgotten. If you are certain everything was correct, contact customer service. We will review the case.
Promo code for subscriptions
With a promo code, you can unlock special offers such as day passes, new subscriptions, or BusinessBike subscriptions. Enter the code in the respective app to activate the offer.
Voucher for credit
Vouchers can be used to receive ride credit. This credit is available for future rides. Instructions for entering promo codes and vouchers can be found here.
Promo code invalid
If a promo code appears as invalid, there are three possible reasons: the code has expired, your email does not match the promo code, or the code was entered incorrectly. Check all details and try again.
Where to redeem
Depending on the app, there are different places to redeem your promo code. Check How it works for detailed instructions on redeeming codes.
Activate subscription
To activate a subscription, four things must be done: your email must include your company email, the correct promo code must be entered, your phone number must be verified, and a payment method must be added. You will then receive a confirmation email with a link to click.
Renew subscription
Subscriptions do not renew automatically. To extend your subscription, you can simply reactivate it via the app or with your promo code.
Cancellation
Your subscription does not need to be cancelled, as it does not auto-renew. It simply expires at the end of its validity.
Subscription conditions
If something is incorrect or described differently in your subscription, contact us in the chat. We will check immediately.
Different subscription types
There are various subscription types: public subscriptions available in the app, day passes, the B-Quick rate (standard rate), and BusinessBike subscriptions for company employees.

Bike or e-bike defective
Report the damage directly in the app. This allows operations to repair the vehicle quickly.
Lock does not open
Is a spoke blocking the lock? Turn the rear wheel slightly to allow it to open. It may also be that the battery is too low to rent it.
Lock does not close
Press the on/off button and push the latch fully. Hold briefly until the lock beeps. Check if a spoke is blocking it. If it still does not work, report it in the app.
Defective e-bike battery
