PubliBike Velospot
network harmonisation

Over the next year and a half, PubliBike and Velospot will progressively merge to form the largest interconnected bike-sharing network in Switzerland.

This is excellent news for both PubliBike and Velospot customers, as the harmonisation will mean that in future they will be able to rent and use all PubliBike and Velospot bikes in Switzerland with a single app.

The new ‘PubliBike Velospot’ app will be launched to implement the harmonisation. The existing locking system for PubliBike bicycles will also be replaced, starting in Fribourg on 4 June.

What does this mean for PubliBike customers?

New App

In order to use PubliBike bikes with the new locking system, you need to download the new “Velospot PubliBike” app and register with it. In Fribourg, you already need to use the new “PubliBike Velospot” app to rent PubliBike bikes.

Using 2 apps

At locations where the locking systems have not yet been converted, you can use your PubliBike app as usual. During the network harmonisation phase, you will therefore need to use two apps, depending on location.

Your stored data will of course be transferred. With the new app, you will also have access to PubliBike bikes in Fribourg, in addition to the existing Velospot network.
